Institutional Investors Divided on Kanzhun Ahead of Earnings

A clear divergence in institutional strategy has emerged regarding Kanzhun Limited (NASDAQ: BZ), the Chinese online recruitment platform, just one day before its critical quarterly earnings release. Major funds are executing starkly opposing moves, highlighting significant uncertainty among sophisticated investors.

Major Funds Take Conflicting Positions

Investment giants Vanguard and Russell Investments have adopted fundamentally different approaches. Vanguard significantly bolstered its stake, increasing its holding by 2.9%. This move brings the total value of its position in the company to $284 million, signaling substantial confidence in its long-term prospects.

In direct contrast, Russell Investments executed a major retreat, slashing its stake by a considerable 17.4%. This reduction leaves Russell with a holding valued at just $21.6 million. This clash between two prominent asset managers underscores the deep split in institutional sentiment.

Other Players Lean Bullish

The bullish case appears to be gaining traction elsewhere. Other institutional entities seem to be aligning more closely with Vanguard’s optimistic outlook. Krane Funds Advisors expanded its position by a notable 24.2%, amassing a stake now worth nearly $390 million. Mirae Asset Global Investments also joined the wave of accumulation, registering a meaningful increase in its own holdings.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying KanzhunADR?

Analyst Sentiment Shifts Upward

This institutional activity coincides with a notable upgrade from Wall Street. Analysts at Daiwa America have revised their rating on Kanzhun’s stock, moving it from "Hold" to "Strong Buy." They have simultaneously set a price target of $18.50. This change in stance reflects a growing wave of optimism surrounding the online recruitment sector’s potential.

From a technical perspective, the stock trades at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 36.84. It exhibits below-average market volatility, with a beta of 0.41. The share price is currently trading above its 200-day simple moving average of $17.51. The company’s market capitalization stands at $8.77 billion.

Quarterly Results to Provide Direction

All attention now turns to the company’s upcoming financial report. Kanzhun is scheduled to release its Q2 2025 earnings results tomorrow, which will serve as the ultimate test for these conflicting investor theses. Market expectations are firmly established:

  • Projected Revenue: 2.08 billion CNY (an increase of 8.43% year-over-year)
  • Estimated EPS: 1.106 CNY (an increase of 21.48% year-over-year)

The forthcoming numbers are poised to dictate the stock’s near-term trajectory. A earnings miss would validate the caution exhibited by sellers like Russell Investments. Conversely, should the company surpass these estimates, it would likely empower the bulls at Vanguard and vindicate Daiwa’s upgraded rating.
