Forge Global Holdings: Institutional Investors Bet Big on Private Markets Specialist

While public markets experience volatility, a significant shift is occurring behind the scenes. Major institutional investors are substantially increasing their stakes in Forge Global Holdings, signaling strong confidence in the private markets fintech company despite near-term share price pressure.

Record Performance Fuels Analyst Confidence

The fundamental case for this institutional optimism is compelling. Forge Global reported second-quarter 2025 results that significantly exceeded expectations. The company posted an adjusted loss per share of -$0.99, notably better than the anticipated -$1.16. Even more impressive was the revenue surprise: Forge delivered $27.74 million versus projected $21 million, marking its second consecutive record quarter since going public.

Operational metrics showed clear improvement as well. The adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed by 33% to its lowest level since the IPO. Management reaffirmed its path to profitability, targeting break-even on an EBITDA basis by 2026.

Market analysts responded enthusiastically to these results. Piper Sandler upgraded the stock to “Overweight,” while UBS analyst Alex Kramm maintained his “Buy” recommendation while raising his price target from $30 to $34. The current average price target among analysts stands at $35.50.

Strategic Initiatives Position Company for Expansion

Beyond strong quarterly numbers, Forge is executing several strategic moves to drive future growth. The company launched its Next Generation Marketplace platform, designed to transform private share trading and enhance its core capabilities.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Forge Global Holdings?

The acquisition of Accuidity Capital Management has expanded Forge’s investment and asset management capacities. Strategic partnerships with Fortune Media for private market rankings and data collaborations with ICE further demonstrate the company’s growing market presence. These initiatives are already producing tangible results: trading volume reached $1.4 billion in the first half of 2025, surpassing the previous year’s total volume.

Institutional Accumulation Despite Market Volatility

The professional investment community is backing its optimism with capital allocations. Prominent firms including Whetstone Capital Advisors, Jane Street Group, and JPMorgan Chase have recently substantially increased their positions in Forge Global. With institutional ownership now exceeding 40% of the company, major funds are clearly making a long-term bet on the private markets specialist.

Despite these positive developments, the stock has experienced short-term weakness, declining in seven of the last ten trading sessions, reflecting broader uncertainties in the capital markets sector.

Notably, insider trading activity shows mixed signals: CFO James Nevin recently purchased $44,000 worth of shares, increasing his position by 8.8%, while CEO Kelly Rodriques sold approximately $69,500 in stock. The company also anticipates seasonally lower revenue in the third quarter—a pattern familiar in this market segment.

The central question remains whether strong fundamentals and institutional confidence will ultimately prevail over near-term market turbulence.
