1-800-Flowers Stock: Searching for a Bottom Amid Persistent Headwinds

Shares of floral and gift delivery service provider 1-800-Flowers.com continue to face significant challenges. The recent confirmation of a “Sell (D-)” rating by Weiss Ratings underscores the persistent concerns weighing on market sentiment. The critical question for investors is whether any hope remains for the beleaguered stock.

Analyst Sentiment Remains Overwhelmingly Negative

Confidence among market analysts is severely lacking. While the consensus rating currently stands at “Hold,” Weiss Ratings reaffirmed its “Sell (D-)” assessment on September 1st. The average price target of $7.50 implies some theoretical upside, yet skepticism clearly dominates the narrative. This bearish view has been echoed by other firms; Noble Financial downgraded the stock from “Strong Buy” to “Hold,” while Wall Street Zen moved to a “Sell” recommendation. The message from experts is unambiguous: they see little potential for positive surprises in the near term.

Disastrous Q3 Earnings Performance

The company’s fiscal third-quarter 2025 results were deeply disappointing across key metrics. Revenue plummeted 12.6% year-over-year to $331.45 million. More alarming was the adjusted loss per share of -$0.71, which fell substantially short of analyst expectations. The earnings report highlighted how rising product and operational costs are significantly compressing profit margins. These figures provide clear evidence of the damage being inflicted by macroeconomic uncertainty, shifting consumer spending habits, and intensifying competitive pressures.

Technical and Fundamental Health Under Pressure

A review of the stock’s technical indicators reveals a pattern of persistent weakness:
* 50-Day Moving Average: $5.60
* 200-Day Moving Average: $5.70
* Year-to-Date Performance: -30.9%

A brief rally occurred on August 22nd, with shares gaining 3.2% following commentary from Fed Chair Powell, but this recovery proved short-lived. The trading session closed with only a marginal gain at $5.40.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying 1-800-Flowers?

The company’s balance sheet presents a mixed picture. A Quick Ratio of 0.73 and a Current Ratio of 1.55 point to somewhat strained liquidity, while a Debt-to-Equity Ratio of 0.45 indicates a moderate level of leverage.

One faintly positive signal came from insider activity. Fund 1 Investments increased its position by 19,920 shares on June 24th. This investment, valued at over $100,000, could be interpreted as a vote of confidence—or merely an attempt to average down at a low price point.

Key Data Summary:
* Q3 Revenue: $331.45 million (-12.6% YoY)
* Q3 EPS: -$0.71 (missed consensus)
* Weiss Rating: “Sell (D-)” (confirmed Sept. 1)
* Consensus Rating: “Hold” with $7.50 price target
* Q4 Earnings Date: September 4 (pre-market)

All Eyes on the Upcoming Quarterly Report

The upcoming quarterly report, scheduled for release on September 4 before market open, is now of critical importance. Investors will be scrutinizing whether the company’s “Celebrations Wave” strategy is finally beginning to yield results and if operational improvements can effectively counteract the ongoing margin pressures.

The answers to these questions will likely set the directional course for the stock—not just for the next quarter, but potentially for the long-term future of the entire enterprise.
