Siemens Energy appears to be successfully navigating its way out of a difficult period, but investors are questioning the durability of this rebound. As company executives present their progress at Munich’s Baader Investment Conference, the central debate revolves around whether the stock’s impressive rally has reached its peak or if further gains are possible.

The company’s latest quarterly report provided compelling evidence for the bullish case. Key divisions, notably Grid Technologies and Gas Services, demonstrated exceptional strength, fueled by solid demand that propelled order intake to unprecedented levels. This operational momentum was so significant that management felt confident enough to upgrade its financial guidance for the current fiscal year—a strong signal of internal confidence.

The Foundation of the Turnaround

This recovery narrative is built upon several critical factors:

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?

  • Upgraded Financial Outlook: Driven by stronger-than-expected business performance, the leadership team has adopted a more optimistic view for the full fiscal year.
  • Record Order Backlog: Major contracts, especially within the grid technology segment, are providing long-term revenue visibility and stability.
  • Enhanced Profitability: A strategic shift towards higher-margin projects, coupled with operational improvements, is finally yielding positive results.

The Lingering Challenge: Siemens Gamesa

Despite the positive momentum, a significant hurdle remains. The wind power subsidiary, Siemens Gamesa, continues to be a primary concern. Persistent technical issues and their associated costs are still weighing on the company’s overall financial health. While substantial orders in the offshore wind sector confirm its ongoing market relevance, the critical task for management is to find a permanent solution to the quality control problems that have plagued the unit.

Strategic Positioning for the Future

Beyond immediate crisis management, Siemens Energy is making strategic bets on future growth drivers. Its position as a leading supplier of electrolyzers in the hydrogen market highlights its potential to become a central player in the global energy transition. These long-term strategic initiatives could ultimately provide the sustained growth engine that investors are seeking.

Trading recently at approximately 96 euros, the share price has staged a notable recovery from its 52-week low. The signals emerging from the Munich conference will be crucial in determining whether the current wave of optimism is well-founded or if the most significant challenges still lie ahead.
