This week marks a pivotal moment for autonomous vehicle technology company Pony AI as it finalizes pricing for its Hong Kong initial public offering. The timing coincides with significant regulatory progress, including the company’s recent achievement of securing city-wide approval for driverless robotaxi services in Shenzhen.

Strategic Public Listing Advances

Pony AI is proceeding with its Hong Kong stock exchange debut, with final pricing determinations occurring today for 41,955,700 Class A ordinary shares. These securities will trade under the ticker symbol “2026” and are expected to raise approximately HK$6.7 billion (US$863 million). The capital infusion is designated primarily for scaling commercialization efforts for Level 4 autonomous technology across both robotaxi and robotruck service segments.

Notably, Uber Technologies has signaled strong confidence in the offering with plans to invest roughly US$100 million during the listing process. Trading of the shares is scheduled to commence on November 6.

Regulatory Milestone in Major Chinese Market

In a parallel development strengthening the company’s position, Pony AI recently obtained the first city-wide license for commercial driverless robotaxi operations in Shenzhen. This authorization, granted in partnership with Shenzhen Xihu Corporation in late October, permits scalable services without safety drivers throughout one of China’s most innovative metropolitan regions.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Pony AI?

Initial services will launch across Nanshan, Qianhai, and Baoan districts before expanding progressively across the entire city. This achievement solidifies Pony AI’s unique status as the only autonomous vehicle company holding approvals for commercial driverless robotaxi services in all four of China’s Tier-1 cities.

Expansion Strategy and Fleet Development

The company’s strategic collaboration with Xihu Group, established in June 2025, is already yielding operational benefits. Plans call for deploying more than 1,000 seventh-generation robotaxis in the coming years. Pony AI currently maintains a fleet exceeding 720 vehicles and aims to reach the 1,000-unit milestone by year-end.

The company’s “asset-light + AI-empowered” business framework facilitates efficient scaling through strategic partnerships. Beyond domestic Chinese operations, Pony AI is advancing international expansion through autonomous vehicle testing initiatives in Europe via its cooperation with Stellantis.

The convergence of regulatory approvals and public market financing positions Pony AI for potential global leadership in the autonomous driving sector. Market observers now await investor response to determine whether this dual-strategy approach will meet with anticipated success.
