Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is making significant strides in the artificial intelligence sector, underscored by a major joint venture announcement. The chipmaker revealed plans to collaborate with Cisco and Saudi startup Humain to construct a massive AI data center in Saudi Arabia. The facility is slated to commence operations with an initial capacity of 100 megawatts, with a long-term roadmap to scale up to a substantial one gigawatt. Demonstrating immediate market demand, video AI startup Luma AI has already reserved the entire initial capacity. This ambitious initiative represents a fundamental shift in AMD’s business model, moving beyond traditional chip sales toward recurring revenue streams from data center operations.

Robust Financial Performance Sets the Stage

The company’s aggressive expansion is supported by exceptionally strong financial results. For the third quarter of 2025, AMD reported revenue surged 36 percent to $9.2 billion, substantially exceeding market expectations. Gross margins expanded from 50 to 52 percent, while operating income witnessed a remarkable 75 percent increase to $1.3 billion. Earnings per share climbed 60 percent to $0.75.

During its Financial Analyst Day on November 11, management outlined ambitious long-term targets, projecting average annual revenue growth exceeding 35 percent over the next three to five years. The company aims to achieve operating margins above 35 percent and elevate earnings per share beyond $20 in the long run.

Expanding Partnership Ecosystem

Beyond the Saudi joint venture, AMD has been systematically strengthening its alliance network across the technology landscape. A particularly notable collaboration with OpenAI involves the deployment of AMD GPUs with total capacity reaching six gigawatts. Beginning in the third quarter of 2026, AMD and Oracle will establish a supercluster incorporating 50,000 GPUs. The company’s Instinct MI350 series has emerged as the fastest-growing product in its history and is already being implemented by major cloud providers, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying AMD?

Aggressive Market Share Objectives

AMD has transparently communicated its market share ambitions, targeting over 50 percent in server CPUs and more than 40 percent in the client segment. Within the particularly lucrative data center AI market, the company is pursuing an average growth rate surpassing 80 percent.

Current performance indicators suggest these targets are achievable. For the fourth quarter of 2025, AMD anticipates revenue of approximately $9.6 billion, representing a 25 percent year-over-year increase. The data center business is positioned to become the primary growth engine, projected to expand at an annual rate exceeding 60 percent.

Through this multifaceted strategy combining record financial performance, strategic partnerships, and innovative business models in data center operations, AMD is establishing itself as a formidable competitor in the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
