Nestlé’s Strategic Overhaul Intensifies with Executive Reshuffle

The world’s largest food and beverage company continues its dramatic transformation as another top-level executive departure signals a significant power consolidation. Following the high-profile CEO change in September, Nestlé’s ongoing restructuring now sees the head of strategy exiting, a move that represents far more than a simple personnel change.

Financial Discipline Takes Center Stage

Nestlé announced Friday that Sanjay Bahadur, the company’s long-serving strategy chief, is departing after four decades with the organization. The critical development for investors, however, lies in the accompanying structural reorganization: responsibility for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) shifts directly to CFO Anna Manz.

This decision sends a clear message from new CEO Philipp Navratil about the company’s revised direction. Rather than pursuing costly expansion initiatives, the focus appears firmly fixed on cost efficiency and margin protection. Manz has established herself as an advocate for rigorous financial controls—precisely what markets have been demanding following what analysts termed the “historic chaos” of 2025 and the recently announced elimination of 16,000 positions.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nestle?

External Challenges Threaten Progress

While internal restructuring advances, external pressures continue to mount:

  • Ethical Concerns: NGO Public Eye has accused the conglomerate of selling baby products in Africa with higher sugar content than equivalent European offerings. Although Nestlé dismissed these allegations as “misleading” on Friday, the report revives uncomfortable memories of previous ESG-related controversies.
  • Technical Rebound: Despite negative headlines, investors seized buying opportunities as the week concluded. The stock advanced 1.97% to €86.75 during Friday’s trading session.
  • Market Position: This recovery remains delicate. With an RSI reading of 51.3, the shares sit in neutral territory but must demonstrate resilience above recent lows.

Market participants now turn their attention to fourth-quarter implementation of cost-cutting measures. The central question has evolved from whether Nestlé will undergo restructuring to how aggressively Anna Manz will streamline the corporate portfolio. Which business segments might the empowered finance chief designate for potential divestiture in the coming months?
