ASML Shares Poised for Significant Growth with €1,000 Price Target

After a period of uncertainty in the semiconductor industry, investor attention is returning to Dutch equipment manufacturer ASML. The firm has been designated a “Top Pick” for the European semiconductor sector by Morgan Stanley, with the financial institution forecasting substantial upside potential driven by an unexpected surge in demand. This raises a compelling question: is the stock on the verge of a decisive breakthrough past the symbolic €1,000 threshold?

Unquenchable AI Demand Fuels Optimism

The relentless expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure is providing a powerful tailwind for ASML. Recent commentary from Nvidia regarding “exceptional” demand for its new Blackwell chips underscores the critical need for advanced manufacturing capacity, a domain where ASML is essential. This technological arms race directly benefits the company’s product portfolio.

Beyond the logic chips powering AI, a significant catalyst emerges from the memory sector. The anticipated “DRAM wave,” representing a major technological transition in memory chips, is resulting in robust order books for ASML. Fears of a cooling memory market appear unfounded; analysis even suggests that key clients like Samsung have not yet finalized their order commitments for the 2026 fiscal year. This points to a sustained and strong pipeline for ASML’s sophisticated lithography systems.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Asml?

Analyst Confidence and Corporate Action

The shifting market sentiment is palpable. Lee Simpson, an analyst at Morgan Stanley, has significantly raised the price target for the chip equipment maker to €1,000. This bullish outlook is supported by three key pillars:

  • TSMC’s Expansion: The ongoing build-out of 3nm manufacturing capacity by industry leader TSMC is expected to trigger additional orders for ASML’s extreme ultraviolet (EUV) systems, a factor not fully accounted for in previous forecasts.
  • Impressive Profitability: Even as a normalization in sales of older DUV systems is anticipated, experts project a remarkable gross margin of 52.3% for 2026.
  • Unassailable Market Position: ASML continues to be the indispensable partner, providing the foundational technology required for the next generation of both logic and memory chips.

Investor confidence is further bolstered by the company’s assertive share buyback initiative. In just the week of November 17th to 21st, ASML invested approximately €180.8 million in repurchasing its own shares. These consistent buybacks are seen as establishing a solid foundation for the share price during periods of market volatility.

A Stable Foundation for Future Gains

Having stabilized from a recent decline, ASML’s shares closed at €898.00, placing them within striking distance of the 52-week high. The market is increasingly pricing in a cyclical recovery anticipated for 2026 and 2027. While business in China remains a variable, the investment community’s focus is decisively shifting toward growth driven by artificial intelligence. ASML appears perfectly positioned to capture the lion’s share of the chip industry’s forthcoming capital expenditures.
