Exploration firm Apex Critical Metals has initiated a pivotal drilling campaign at its Rift Project in Nebraska, marking a significant operational advancement. The program, which commenced on January 26, 2026, follows extensive preparatory work and aims to validate historical data indicating substantial rare earth element (REE) mineralization. The company is targeting the southeastern segment of the Elk Creek Carbonatite Complex, a North American geological formation recognized for its high rare earth potential.
Accelerated Exploration with Dual Rigs
The inaugural phase of drilling is designed to confirm and potentially extend known mineralization along an 850-meter north-south strike length. Core samples will be analyzed to determine the extent and grade of the deposits. Apex is leveraging a sophisticated 3D model that synthesizes geophysical, geochemical, and historical exploration data to guide the campaign. To expedite progress, the company is preparing to deploy a second drill rig. Necessary site infrastructure, including access roads and drilling platforms, is already in place.
Historical drilling results from the area, conducted by previous operators, provide a compelling benchmark for the current activities:
* An interval of 155.5 meters grading 2.70% Total Rare Earth Oxides (REO)
* An interval of 68.2 meters grading 3.32% Total Rare Earth Oxides (REO)

Strong Financial Backing Supports Multi-Project Pipeline
Apex Critical Metals enters this active phase from a position of financial strength. The company holds a market capitalization of approximately 171 million CAD and has 14.76 million CAD in cash. This position was bolstered in November 2025 by a private placement that raised an additional 10 million CAD, providing ample funding to sustain drilling operations for several months.
The Rift Project is one of four exploration assets in the company’s portfolio. Its Canadian projects have also yielded promising results. Notably, the Cap Project in British Columbia intersected 36 meters of 0.59% Niobium Pentoxide (Nb₂O₅) in 2025. Further mineralized carbonatite occurrences have been identified at the Lac Le Moyne property in Québec and the Bianco property in Ontario.
Data Anticipated in Coming Months
Assay results from the initial drill cores are expected to be processed in the coming weeks. By spring 2026, Apex anticipates having concrete data that will inform the future trajectory of the Rift Project. Confirmation of the historical grades would represent a major step toward an initial resource estimate. Should the results fall short of expectations, the company would be required to reassess its strategy for the asset.
