Software Sends AI’s First Real Invoice as Yields Break 5%

Dear readers,

Yesterday we described an industry sounding alarms about its own pace even as strong numbers rolled in. Today the ledger offers a partial rebuttal: buried in the details of recent earnings, software companies are starting to turn AI hype into recurring cash rather than just promises. At the same time, the bond market just crossed a line that has historically rattled stocks, Washington holds a vote that could reshape crypto’s institutional standing, and a pipeline failure in Saudi Arabia has reintroduced a real supply shock into the oil market. Four separate stories, one converging 48 hours.

Software Starts Cashing the AI Check

Adobe’s $6.76 billion third-quarter revenue print, up nearly 13% year-over-year, made headlines on its own. The more revealing number sits underneath it: annually recurring revenue tied to Adobe’s “AI-first” products jumped 150%. That’s the clearest evidence yet that AI features aren’t just a marketing line — customers are paying for them, repeatedly.

Meta may be building an even sharper monetization edge. Analysts estimate that the company’s new pricing model for its “Muse” AI assistant could generate $2.4 billion in annual revenue from as few as 10 million paying subscribers — a striking illustration of how much leverage premium AI tiers can carry. Salesforce is racing to keep pace, rolling out its new “Koa” model alongside an “AIforce” interface designed to strip data access away from traditional dashboards entirely.

The takeaway for portfolios: the straightforward trade of buying chipmakers and infrastructure names has gotten expensive and crowded. The next leg of returns looks more likely to come from SaaS platforms with the pricing power to make customers pay for AI integration directly.

Ten-Year Yields Break the Psychological Ceiling

The bond market is delivering a stress test equity investors can’t sidestep. The 10-year Treasury yield has pushed through 5%, its highest level since 2007, as stubborn inflation forces markets to price in a near-certain 25-basis-point hike at tomorrow’s Fed decision. Historically, a break above 5% has been followed by sharp equity corrections.

So far, Wall Street isn’t cooperating with that pattern. The S&P 500 sits less than three percent below its August record, propped up by earnings power that’s hard to argue with: analysts currently expect 53% earnings growth for the S&P 500 in the second quarter of 2026. As long as corporate fundamentals hold up that well, quality stocks appear capable of absorbing a higher-rate environment — for now.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying S&P 500?

Crypto’s Moment of Truth Arrives

The Senate vote we flagged yesterday is happening today. The chamber is taking up the CLARITY Act, the framework meant to give digital assets a defined regulatory home, and needs 60 votes to advance. Banks are lobbying hard against it, worried about deposits fleeing to crypto platforms; the White House, notably, has stepped in forcefully on the bill’s behalf, deploying new data models aimed at undercutting those deposit-flight arguments.

Bitcoin has eased to around $76,888, off the levels above $77,600 we noted a day earlier, and is trading without much conviction in either direction. With the Fed decision landing almost simultaneously, options markets are bracing for sharp volatility over the next two days. A successful cloture vote would do more than move crypto prices — it would hand stablecoins and digital assets a degree of institutional legitimacy that outweighs short-term rate jitters.

A Pipeline Outage Reawakens the Oil Risk

Away from tech and Treasuries, energy markets are absorbing a genuine supply shock. An outage at Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline has knocked roughly 4 million barrels a day of exports offline — nearly 4% of global supply. Brent crude is trading comfortably above $100 a barrel as a result. Repairs are expected to take five to six weeks, and Goldman Sachs has warned that a prolonged outage could push prices above $120 a barrel.

For portfolios leaning heavily into rate-sensitive tech, select energy names now look like a sensible hedge against a geopolitical premium that isn’t going away quickly.

What It Means

The next day and a half — tomorrow’s Fed decision, the fallout from today’s Senate vote, and the trajectory of the oil disruption — carries real potential to set the market’s tone into year-end. But the underlying story hasn’t changed: corporate earnings, and software’s newly visible ability to monetize AI in particular, remain strong enough to keep panic selling at bay. The test now is whether that fundamental strength can keep absorbing shocks arriving from three directions at once.

Best regards,
The StocksToday.com Editorial
