All attention turns to Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) as the chipmaker prepares to release its fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 financial results. Following a share price decline of over 6% last Friday to $236.73, the market is braced for a high-stakes announcement. The core question for investors is whether the company’s multi-billion dollar investments in artificial intelligence data centers are now translating into accelerated revenue growth.

Market Expectations and Analyst Sentiment

Ahead of the report, consensus estimates point to quarterly revenue of approximately $9.69 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of 26.6%. Earnings per share (EPS) are projected to come in at $1.32. Despite recent share price volatility, the stock has advanced 10% since the start of 2026. Market researchers maintain a generally optimistic stance, with the majority issuing “Buy” or “Moderate Buy” ratings. Their average price targets range from $253 to $289, suggesting potential upside of 7% to 22% from current levels. This outlook is reflected in a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 36 to 40, a valuation that prices in significant future expansion.

The Data Center Segment Takes Center Stage

Tomorrow’s report will likely shift focus away from the client business segment. The primary area of interest is the data center division, which grew by 22% in the third quarter of 2025 and accounted for nearly half of AMD’s total revenue. Company leadership has previously projected a five-year annual growth rate of 60% for this unit. Whether AMD reaffirms or even raises this ambitious target will be a major driver of the market’s reaction.

Central to this growth narrative is the “MI” series of AI accelerators. These chips are designed to help AMD capture market share from industry leader Nvidia. Early adoption signals are promising: major cloud providers, including Microsoft, Meta, and Oracle, are deploying AMD Instinct accelerators to diversify their supply chains.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying AMD?

Strategic Partnerships and Expanding Horizons

Recent reports of a collaboration with OpenAI highlight AMD’s growing influence within the AI ecosystem. The deal involves provisioning up to 6 gigawatts of AMD GPU computing capacity for training and inference workloads. Partnerships of this scale could provide substantial support for the company’s 2026 revenue forecasts.

Beyond traditional computing, AMD is expanding into new frontiers. The company’s technology is slated for use in Blue Origin’s lunar lander by 2028, underscoring the increasing relevance of its chips in edge computing applications.

The Deciding Factor: Guidance for 2026

Ultimately, the most critical element of the earnings release will be the forward-looking guidance for 2026. The market will scrutinize whether AMD confirms its targeted annual revenue growth rate of 35% and the 60% growth goal for its AI accelerators. Any deviation from these benchmarks, whether upward or downward, is expected to trigger pronounced share price movements. With the stock currently trading near $237, having already posted gains this year, tomorrow’s figures will serve as a crucial test for the sustainability of its valuation.
