A significant divergence is emerging between the financial performance of Deckers Outdoor and its stock market valuation. Despite the company’s shares having lost more than half their value since the start of the year, its core brands, HOKA and UGG, are achieving unprecedented sales records. This contradiction was highlighted recently when several major financial institutions reaffirmed their bullish outlooks on the stock. Curiously, the market response was a further decline of nearly 5%, prompting investors to question whether current prices represent a substantial mispricing and a potential buying opportunity.

Record-Breaking Quarterly Results Fuel Optimism

The foundation for analyst confidence is rooted in exceptionally strong first-quarter fiscal 2026 results that surpassed all forecasts. The footwear and apparel maker reported earnings that beat expectations by a significant 36.76%. Revenue climbed to $964.54 million, substantially exceeding projections of $901.45 million and representing a robust 16.9% year-over-year increase.

This impressive growth was powered by the company’s two flagship brands:
– HOKA set a new quarterly record, generating $653.1 million in revenue for a 19.8% gain.
– UGG grew 18.9% to $265.1 million, marking its best-ever performance for a June quarter.

Financial Institutions Raise Price Targets

In reaction to these results, a number of brokerage firms have upwardly revised their valuations for Deckers Outdoor. Bank of America promptly increased its price target from $120 to $122. Even greater optimism was shown by Truist Financial and Robert W. Baird, which raised their targets to $145 and $150, respectively. In total, nineteen market analysts have upgraded their estimates for the company.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deckers Outdoor?

However, a note of caution persists within the financial community. Goldman Sachs reduced its price objective to $87, while Bernstein initiated coverage with an “Underperform” rating. This skepticism contributes to the recent volatility in the share price. Despite these divergent views, the average price target among the 25 brokers covering the stock stands at approximately $136, indicating a consensus belief in considerable upside potential from current trading levels.

The Sustainability Question: Growth Versus Headwinds

Looking ahead, Deckers Outdoor’s management has provided guidance for the current quarter, forecasting revenue in the range of $1.38 billion to $1.42 billion. The company anticipates HOKA will grow by about 10%, with UGG expected to achieve mid-single-digit growth. Nevertheless, experts point to potential challenges that could pressure profit margins, including rising tariff expenses, increased freight costs, and intensifying competitive pressures.

For investors, the central dilemma remains: has the severe stock price decline since January been an overreaction, or does it accurately reflect underlying risks not yet apparent in the stellar quarterly reports? The coming weeks, leading to the release of the second-quarter figures in late October, will reveal whether the market ultimately sides with the skeptical traders or the optimistic analysts.
