Exploration company Miata Metals has reported a substantial development at its Sela Creek project in Suriname, with recent drilling intersecting gold mineralization that surpasses previous discoveries. Chief Executive Officer Jacob Verbaas characterized the find as a pivotal moment for the venture.
Broad, Near-Surface Mineralization Identified
The results originate from the ongoing 25,000-meter diamond drilling campaign, specifically at the Big Berg target. One drill hole cut an interval of 96 meters grading 1.41 grams of gold per tonne. A key operational highlight is the mineralization’s commencement directly beneath the surface, maintaining consistency throughout the entire length of the intercept. This characteristic is considered favorable for potential future extraction.
Company leadership views these assay results as the most robust encountered to date across the Sela Creek property. The approximate 100-meter width of the mineralized zone suggests the presence of an extensive and resilient gold system.

Exploration Strategy and Forward Program
In response to these findings, Miata Metals is preparing to expand its exploration activities into additional high-priority zones. The focus will extend beyond Big Berg to include the Puma and Stranger targets. Investigating these regional corridors is intended to determine the full scale of the gold-bearing system.
The company’s approach integrates step-out drilling with the identification of new prospective areas. Current work is centered on the technical interpretation of accumulated data to fully evaluate the potential of its Suriname portfolio. The large-scale drilling program will continue as scheduled.
