While its native token faces significant market headwinds, the Solana ecosystem is making a decisive and public bet on institutional finance. This strategic shift will be showcased at the “Solana Accelerate” conference in Hong Kong on February 11, 2026, an event squarely focused on financial applications for the blockchain. The gathering at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is expected to draw over 2,000 developers, executives, and policymakers.

A Clear Strategic Reorientation

This focus is intentional. In early February, Lily Liu of the Solana Foundation announced a strategic realignment, explicitly prioritizing financial applications over gaming projects. The conference agenda, featuring more than 45 sessions and 80 speakers, mirrors this new direction. Core topics will include payments, retail access, institutional finance, infrastructure, and the emerging market for SOL-staking ETFs.

Recent ecosystem developments provide concrete evidence of this pivot. In late January, Ondo Finance launched its Global Markets platform on Solana, introducing over 200 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs to the network. The company now claims to be Solana’s largest real-world asset issuer by asset count. Also in January, WisdomTree expanded access to its tokenized funds on the network, and R3 announced institutional yield products for private credit and trade finance.
