The Canadian mineral exploration company Apex Critical Metals saw its net loss expand significantly in its first fiscal quarter, ended October 2025. The loss quadrupled to CAD 2.68 million, a sharp increase from the CAD 0.4 million loss recorded in the same period the prior year. This substantial rise in expenditure is directly attributed to a major ramp-up in field activities across its North American projects, as the firm aggressively advances its exploration programs.

Financial Details and Funding

On a per-share basis, the loss widened from CAD 0.01 to CAD 0.05. Company leadership emphasized that this increase was driven by operational spending on exploration, not by higher administrative overhead. The capital was primarily deployed into a re-logging and re-sampling initiative at the Rift rare earths project in Nebraska, alongside summer field campaigns in Quebec and British Columbia.

Despite the increased burn rate, the company’s financial position was bolstered by a CAD 10 million financing round completed in October 2025. This injection is intended to sustain the accelerated operational pace. Cash reserves at the quarter’s end were reported at approximately CAD 5.86 million.

Significant Discovery in Quebec

A key operational highlight announced in mid-December 2025 was a notable discovery at Apex’s 100%-owned Lac Le Moyne project in Nunavik, Quebec. A recently concluded program, which involved collecting 151 rock samples, marked the first targeted exploration for carbonate-hosted mineralization on the property.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Apex Critical Metals?

The assay results surpassed expectations. Four samples returned values exceeding 0.20% Nb₂O₅ (niobium pentoxide), with a peak value of 0.40%. Furthermore, thirteen samples contained over 0.25% total rare earth oxides (REO), including a high-grade result of 0.50% REO. Encouraged by these findings, Apex has strategically staked an additional 77 claims, expanding its land position by roughly 3,609 hectares in the area.

Progress at the Rift Project and Auditor’s Note

In Nebraska, the company has completed the re-logging program at its Rift project. This work involved the modern re-analysis of historical drill cores originally extracted by Molycorp Inc. in the 1970s and 1980s. Assay results from this review are anticipated in the first quarter of 2026, to be followed by a phased drilling program scheduled to commence in early 2026.

On the corporate front, the company’s auditor included a going-concern note in late November 2025. This is a standard disclosure for junior exploration companies without revenue, highlighting their ongoing reliance on external financing to fund operations as a central investment risk.

Market Performance Context

Interestingly, the expanded quarterly losses have not dampened investor enthusiasm for the stock in the broader timeframe. Apex Critical Metals’ share price posted gains of over 100% during the 2025 calendar year. The company’s market capitalization sits between CAD 126 million and CAD 162 million. This market optimism appears to be fueled by the potential for the company’s exploration success to eventually define an economically viable resource. This prospect is set against a strategic backdrop of Western initiatives to secure independent supply chains for critical metals and reduce reliance on Chinese sources.
