Palletline, Asharami Energy and ADM among companies reporting major safety milestones, as regulators in South Korea and Nigeria move to strengthen oversight

UK logistics firm Palletline has secured its 12th consecutive RoSPA Gold Award, marking a sustained commitment to workplace safety that CEO Carl Moore says reflects “continuous investment” in protecting the workforce. The company’s approach includes a 750kg weight limit for tail-lift deliveries and proactive risk management strategies that have kept accident rates low.

The award, announced on July 21, highlights how embedding health and safety into daily operations can deliver long-term results — a lesson for UK employers across the industrial and logistics sectors.

Energy Sector Reaches Safety Milestones

Asharami Energy, a subsidiary of the Sahara Group, announced on July 22 that it had reached 6 million man-hours without a lost-time injury (LTI) at its OML-148 operations. The achievement is part of the company’s broader Goal Zero safety culture, as the parent organisation pursues a production target of 350,000 barrels of oil per day by 2030.

In India, ADM received the CII EHS Excellence Award on July 21 after achieving a double-digit reduction in both its total recordable incident rate (TRIR) and lost workday cases (LWDC). The company is now preparing for compliance with India’s Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code 2020, with over 90% of its workforce actively engaged in safety initiatives.

Regulatory Expansion in Asia and Africa

Regional authorities are formalising new agreements to standardise safety practices. On July 22, the Daejeon Metropolitan Corporation in South Korea signed a cooperation agreement with the Korea Industrial Safety Association, aiming to prevent industrial accidents through technical support, safety education and joint awareness campaigns.

The same day, the Korea National Oil Corporation was designated as an Outstanding Disaster Management Agency after receiving the highest possible grades in three separate government evaluations, including assessments of critical infrastructure and disaster response training.

In West Africa, the Ogun State government in Nigeria announced plans on July 21 to establish a dedicated Safety Commission. Commissioner Ola Oresanya introduced the 2026-2028 Strategic Safety Transformation Agenda, which includes a statewide industrial safety audit. Recent inspections in the region identified significant gaps between companies’ documented safety policies and their actual workplace practices.

Closing the gap between documented policies and real-world practice is a challenge many organisations face. Data-Driven Tools and Seasonal Risk Management

Manufacturing and software firms are increasingly turning to third-party verification and specialised tools to manage environmental, health and safety (EHS) risks. Mauser Packaging Solutions selected the ISNetworld platform on July 21 to standardise contractor management, using data-driven tools such as CultureSight and RAVS 360 to strengthen due diligence and safety performance.

Workplace culture was also highlighted by BatchMaster Software, which received its Great Place to Work certification for 2026-27 on July 21. The certification process showed that 98% of employees viewed the company as a positive work environment, with particularly high scores in justice and collaboration.

To address immediate environmental hazards, Alba launched its Summer Safety and Health Campaign on July 22. Running until July 29, the initiative focuses on preventing heat stress and promoting hydration under the theme of making excellence a habit. CEO Ali Al Baqali challenged the workforce to complete a 10th consecutive summer season without a single heat-related injury.
