Investors looking to trade shares of Kangaroo Resources will find empty order books at the exchange today. The company’s public market presence concluded when it was delisted from the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) at the end of 2018. This move was precipitated by a full acquisition, marking a significant shift in the corporate landscape for the entity and its remaining assets.

A Corporate Acquisition and Its Aftermath

The delisting followed the complete takeover by Indonesian coal producer PT Bayan Resources Tbk. In December 2018, the parent company secured 1.5 billion shares at a price of 0.15 AUD per share. Since that transaction, Kangaroo Resources has operated as an integrated division within the Bayan Group. Its core business activities continue to focus on coal concessions located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

For shareholders, the practical implication is that any ongoing interest in the former projects of Kangaroo Resources must now be directed toward Bayan Resources. The Indonesian parent company remains the central player in the sector, while the old stock listing is now purely a matter of historical record.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Kangaroo Resources?

Streamlining the Group Structure

A further internal restructuring was initiated by the corporate parent in March of last year. As part of this process, the Australian subsidiary, Kangaroo Minerals Pty Ltd, was dissolved. This entity was no longer engaged in active investment operations, making its dissolution a step primarily aimed at simplifying the overall corporate architecture.

Bayan Resources emphasized that the closure of this subsidiary has no material impact on the financial standing or the operational continuity of the group’s broader business. The restructuring underscores a focus on creating leaner, more efficient organizational structures following the integration.

The journey from a publicly traded ASX stock to a consolidated unit within a larger Indonesian conglomerate is now complete. The operational legacy continues under new management, with all strategic direction flowing from the parent company.
