Nordex Secures Major Follow-On Order from German Wind Developer

Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has strengthened its position in its domestic market with a significant new contract. The company announced that German project developer Prowind GmbH has placed an order for eight additional N175/6.X wind turbines. This latest deal comes after Prowind purchased seven units of the same model last year, effectively doubling its commitment to the platform. The order carries a total capacity of 54.4 megawatts and includes a comprehensive 20-year premium full-service agreement.

Strategic Domestic Strength Underpins Share Performance

Nordex shares have demonstrated considerable strength this year, advancing approximately 52% since January. The stock is currently trading just below its 52-week high of €46.18. This operational momentum in Germany provides a clear foundation for the market’s confidence. The domestic market is increasingly becoming a core segment for powerful onshore turbines with high hub heights—a niche where Nordex holds a strong position.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nordex?

Project Details and Recurring Revenue Model

The eight turbines from this order will be allocated across two separate sites. Six are destined for the Hogenset wind farm in Lower Saxony, while the remaining two will form part of the cross-border Füchtorf project, located between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. Each installation will feature a hybrid tower, reaching a hub height of 179 meters, with commissioning scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.

This pattern is characteristic of Nordex’s strategy in its home market. The company frequently works with project developers who repeatedly select its established turbine platforms, coupling the sales with long-term service contracts. The 20-year full-service agreement is far from incidental; it represents a fundamental component of the business model, ensuring a stable stream of recurring revenue long after the initial installation.
